The AIPAD (Association of International Photography Art Dealers) Photography Show

More than 75 of the world’s leading photography art galleries will present a wide range of museum-quality work, including contemporary, modern and nineteenth-century photographs, as well as photo-based art, video, and new media. $40 for four-day pass, $25 for one-day pass, $10 for one-day pass with valid student ID.

Dr John: Insides Out, A Louis Armstrong Tribute

For over 40 years, Dr. John has taken the exuberant and raucous sound of New Orleans, and has channeled it through his own style of rhythm and blues. In “A Louis Armstrong Tribute,” Dr. John leads an all-star cast including Kermit Ruffins, Rickie Lee Jones, Roy Hargrove, Arturo Sandoval, Blind Boys of Alabama and many others in celebration of New Orleans’ greatest musical son, Louis Armstrong. 8pm. Tickets start at $20

Kabuki Dance Featuring Bando Kotoji  AND  Deco Japan: Shaping Art and Culture, 1920-1945

Encounter the elegant and refined art form of nihon buyo, traditional Japanese dance, led by master dancer Bando Kotoji to the accompaniment of live music. From his vast repertoire, Kotoji has selected four vibrant dances for this Kabuki Dance program.  $50

Deco Japan Exhibit through June 10. **Note: Admission is free to all on Friday nights, 6-9 PM. **

Showcasing the spectacular craftsmanship and sophisticated design associated with both Japan and Art Deco style, this exhibition is the first in the U.S. to explore a little-known brand of pre-WWII modernism borne of competitive ingenuity and vivacious cosmopolitanism.
